In our kids pottery classes in Melbourne, children step into a calm, creative space where hands-on making replaces screens and imagination leads the way. Clay invites curiosity, mistakes, experimentation, and discovery — all at a pace that supports focus and wellbeing.
At URTH Clay Studio, we welcome boys and girls aged 8 to 12 into a mindful pottery experience designed to support both creativity and emotional wellbeing. There is no pressure to be perfect — only encouragement to explore, create, and enjoy the process of making.
Some children arrive full of ideas. Others arrive quietly and slowly open up. Clay meets them exactly where they are.
Through guided exploration, participants learn how to plan, build, refine, and complete their ceramic pieces. We work with hand-building techniques, pottery wheel introduction, surface texture using natural materials collected from the surrounding environment, and glazing methods that turn clay into functional, food-safe ceramics.
More importantly, children learn patience, presence, and confidence in their own ideas.
