Safe and relaxing process for pregnant women.
During your experience, we will create the main pieces but you can choose the shape and design your bowl, add your fingerprints, sign your names and include a special message or meaningful detail and be involved in the designing and making process if you want. Once your piece has been glazed and fired, you'll have a beautiful waterproof, food-safe ceramic keepsake to treasure as a lasting reminder of your pregnancy.
-What Is a Pregnancy Belly Bowl?
A pregnancy belly bowl is a handmade ceramic keepsake created around the shape of a pregnant belly. Rather than simply taking photographs of your pregnancy, the experience allows you to capture the shape of your bump in pottery and turn it into something tangible that you can keep.
--How the Pregnancy Belly Bowl Experience Works
1. Arrive and relax
We'll welcome you into the studio and explain the experience.
2. We create the belly form
We'll create the basic form through belly casting/forming process.
3. Create your bowl
You or you and your partner decide how you'd like your ceramic bowl to look wile enjoying a hot cup of tea.
4. Personalise it
Add fingerprints, signatures, names, dates or a special message.
5. We finish your pottery
Your piece will be carefully dried, glazed and kiln-fired.
6. Collect your finished keepsake
Once the firing and finishing process is complete, your unique belly bowl will be ready for collection after 8 weeks.
At Urth Clay Studio, you and your partner can personalise your belly bowl by choosing its shape and adding fingerprints, signatures, dates or a special message.
--When Is the Best Time for a Pregnancy Belly Bowl?
Around 30–36 weeks of pregnancy is a popular window for creating a belly bowl because the bump is generally well developed while many expectant mothers may still find the short casting process reasonably comfortable.
However, every pregnancy is different. Your comfort is more important than reaching a particular week.
The experience includes approximately 30 minutes of sitting for the belly casting/forming process, so choose a time when you feel comfortable doing this.
---Create It Together
Your Pregnancy Belly Bowl isn't something you simply purchase — you create it together.
Partners are welcome to participate throughout the experience. You can both leave your fingerprints in the clay, sign your names, add your baby's name or write a message for your future child.
--A Keepsake You Can Actually Use
Your finished ceramic belly bowl will be glazed and kiln-fired to create a waterproof and food-safe ceramic piece, making it suitable not only as a beautiful pregnancy keepsake but also as a functional bowl for your home.
